COUNTY CAPTAIN WINS PAST CAPTAIN'S TROPHY

Kenilworth Golf Course on Wednesday 7th October saw the final Warwickshire competition in the 2015 series , this time being for Past Captains of Warwickshire Golf Clubs who were competing for the Rene Greey Trophy. Thankfully, the day saw little rain other than for the early starters although it was quite cool throughout and the course was playing very long. After the excessive rain of recent days it was almost a surprise that the course was open, but it was and the greens and even fairways had drained well, although bunker play was somewhat difficult as there was alot of standing water.
Regardless, 31 pairs set out to play this Foursomes Stableford format. Scoring, whilst proving difficult for some, saw the winners bringing in some fantastic scores, particularly the winning pair. What a delight it was that the winning pair was County Captain Karen HEARN and partner Ruth HALL from Olton GC who scored a magnificent 40 points. Karen, who over her two years as Captain has had little time to actually play much golf but obviously still has the talent must be looking forward to next year, when she will have more time.
How lucky we are in Warwickshire to have a generous member who had decided at the start of the year to sponsor this event, which always brings to an end the golfing season of the year. Cynthis PARKER is that lady and how thrilled and proud she must have been yesterday at lunch, when she saw her daughter Karen and partner Ruth hold the Trophy aloft. Our sincere thanks must go to her.

After a very enjoyable lunch and Prize Presentation that followed the golf, Karen in her official capacity of County Captain, thanked Kenilworth Golf Club for hosting this event on their course and also the Lady Captain and others who had helped maked the day so successful.
