Warwickshire U14 Trials Day
Date: Sunday 15th January 2023
Venue: Stonebridge Golf Club
On Sunday, January 15th, the annual Warwickshire County Boys Under-14s trial session took place at Stonebridge Golf Club. A strong contingent of 26 boys in total were welcomed to Stonebridge and the Warwickshire County coaches and team management were keen to assess the depth of talent across Warwickshire's young and future golfing stars. The event has become increasingly popular over recent years with an increasing standard of ability, making selection for the 2023 coaching and playing squads increasingly challenging. What a nice problem to have!
With the day split into two separate time groups, the boys in both sessions were given an opportunity to display their skills on the driving range and on the putting green. Warwickshire coach Aaron Lansberry measured the players' club head speed, accuracy and distance control using the latest state-of-the-art equipment on the range, while fellow pro Richard Glenn assessed their short game. Aaron and Richard were also supported by Ben Storer (U18's team member) and Jake Frearson (U14's Captain) who were on hand to offer their support to the boys and answer any questions from parents.
The day was a great success, during which we were delighted to see so many keen and talented young golfers in Warwickshire. Not only was the standard of golf high, the attitude and enthusiasm of the boys was very impressive and bodes very well for the future. With the first coaching session due to start on Sunday 12 February, we are exciting to see what will be achieved this season with our young Warwickshire boys.
