WLCGA Summer Meeting on 27th July 2023
70 ladies took part in the Summer Meeting at Maxstoke Park Golf Club this year. The format is betterball strokeplay on 85% course handicap.
After a heavy downpour the evening and night before, it was heartening to see the sun come through, albeit a little weakly, for the start of the competition. Maxstoke Park always rises to the occasion and the course looked very inviting.
A big thank you to Angie Allen, the Maxstoke Park Lady Captain, for all her support in the run up to this event and many thanks to the Past Captain and the gentlemen who helped with the ball sweep, menu choices and acting as Starter. The ball sweep raised an amazing £212 which will help with the development of junior girls’ golf within the county.
Thanks, too, to all the Maxstoke Park staff whose help made for a successful competition and day out.
Well done to the all the ladies who played in the Summer Meeting and special congratulations to Joan Tildesley and Julie Houghton from Olton GC, who won the Summer Meeting Trophies with a net of 69.
Runners up with a net of 71 were Anne Parry and Gillian Curley from Stratford upon Avon GC and winners of the best net of 71 with joint handicap indexes over 40.8 were Nadia Evans and Jane Kenney Herbert from The Warwickshire G&CC.
With a best gross score of 78, Julia Burton from Moor Hall GC and Rachel Rusted from Rugby GC won the Harthill Goblets.
