Copsewood Grange welcomed the young bears for their opening match of the season on a beautiful sunny afternoon against Shropshire and Herefordshire

The first pairing out for Warwickshire was Captain Jake Frearson and Kamraan Arastu who came out the traps very fast and were soon 3 up through 5 holes, as they reached the turn they were 4 up, they would then go on to birdie 14 and win the match 5&4

Second out was Monty and Byron, news came in from the parents whatsapp group that they were two down but battling hard and managed to get the score back to A/S through 9 holes, as this match entered the latter stages the S&H pair were dormy two up, Byron then made a great par at 17 to go one down playing the last but unfortunately one of the S&H lads made a 3 nett 2 to take the match 2&1

Next out were two lads making their debut for the Under 14s, Will Pagett and Harry Wheeler, both lads said they were feeling the nerves on the first tee but hit great tee shots, they would soon be two up and cruising and enjoying their golf, entering the back 9 S&H won back to back holes meaning the score was back to A/S, this would be another match to come to the testing par 3 18th hole, with S&H taking it to win the match 1 up

Sam and Leeroy were next out with Leeroy being another player making his debut, this was a tight match, I was watching this match stood behind the 4th green, Sam and Leeroy looked to be in control on this hole with them both being on the green with birdie putts, but this is match play and one of their opponents chipped in to make birdie and go 1up, it was going to be one of those days and as they reached the turn they were 2 down, the pair battled hard but eventually losing out 3&2

At this stage S&H were leading the match 3-1

It would come down to the two last matches, next up were Theo and Kilian who played some amazing golf and got to the turn 2 up, they then turned on the after burners winning 12 and 13 closing the match out with a 6&4 victory

Last out were Harry Walton and Sam Tooth a pair from Moor Hall, these lads weren't messing about and were finding fairways and holing putts, the poor S&H lads just didn't stand a chance, thru 9 holes they were 4 up, then 5 up, in fairness to the S&H lads they didn't give up and won a few holes, but the young bears just got on with things and got the match to dormy 4 eventually winning the match 4&2

The final match result Warwickshire 3 S&H 3
