GREAT DAY OUT AT STRATFORD OAKS
The venue was Stratford Oaks Golf Club for the annual summer competition of the Warwickshire Vets, the AM AM, a Stableford competition where the best two scores counted. 124 Vets went out in their teams of 4, representing some 23 Warwickshire clubs. The weather was just perfect for golf (how often have we been able to say that this year!) and the course looked fantastic with fairways a joy to walk on and to play shots from and the greens true but quite speedy.
The Club staff looked after us extremely well during the day and it was just a pity that refreshments were not served after 6 p.m. which meant that when the final group came in at about 7 p.m., the only ladies in the clubhouse were the ladies running the competition. Obviously it was impossible to hold a prize presentation to honour the winning teams. However we would like to thank the Oaks' members who helped on the day with Reception, Starting and inputting Results and in particular the Greens staff who presented the course in tip top condidition for us. Lesley Kiener, the Vets' Competition Organiser also ran a very well organised and smooth running competition - many thanks.
Congratulations to all of the winners listed below and perhaps a special note for Hayley Davies from Harborne GC, who won the prize for Nearest the Pin in 2 - she chipped in with her second shot and you can't get much closer than that!!
