Fifty seven ladies entered the Joyce Nichol Trophies this year after a two year break due to the funeral of Elizabeth 11. The competition is played in two divisions, silver and bronze. The competition is an individual stableford, based on handicap indexes of 20.4 or less in the silver division, and 20.5 - 45 in the bronze.
The event was held at Shirley Golf Club on Monday, 18th September after a heavy thunderstorm through the night. The greens staff worked hard early in the morning to prepare the greens as well as they could. Thanks to them for their efforts.
Shirley Golf Club provided many volunteers on the day, starting with Mr Captain, Tony Poyner and Past Captain, Stewart Almond as starters. Kath Hobbs, Geoff Hobbs, Joy Day and Suzie Grantham organised the ball sweep for the Warks Junior girls (which raised a fabulous £139) and took food orders before the ladies went out to play. Pam Leek supported Elizabeth Earnshaw with registration duties. Many thanks to all of these stalwart members of Shirley. Thanks, too, to Lady Captain, Denise Delahunty, for her help prior to the day and after her round.
Thanks, too, to Jackie with the bar and catering staff for looking after the ladies before and after their rounds. The intermittent showers had left the ladies with a need for nourishment.
