Warwickshire Junior Champion Club 2023
A record 15 teams would compete in this year's Junior Champion Club event to see which of our clubs would represent Warwickshire at the 2024 national finals at Woodhall Spa.
Olton as last years winners were the host venue and the course as always was in fantastic condition. The sun was shining, it was a perfect autumn day for scoring.
Given the number of entrants some additional individual prizes were added for the day.
The best score of the day went to Daniel Hyde (Shirley) with an outstanding 44 points.
The runner up in the individual was Archie Williams (Ladbrook Park) with 42 points.
The team trophy is the best two scores from a team of 3 players.
Archie's 42 points combined with Louis Taylor's 31 to give Ladbrook Park 3rd place on the day with 73 points.
Finishing joint top in the team championship were Moor Hall and Handsworth. In the event of a tie the 3rd member of the teams score is included, but in this instance that did not resolve the tie such was the closely matched nature of the two teams.
There could only be one winning team, so on countback the runners up for the championship were the team of Amar Ghuman, Davina Kular and Haris Kular from Handsworth.
This meant the winners for 2023 were the team of Bobby Brittan, Freddy Montgomery and Joe Manton from Moor Hall. Moor Hall will go on to represent Warwickshire in the national finals in 2024 and we wish them every success in those finals.
A huge thank you to Olton Golf Club for allowing us to run this championship and to Terry from Olton who helped enormously in preparing this event.
Thank you to Deb Reynolds for starting on the day and to Mark Reynolds for his on course assistance in ensuring everyone got round in a timely manner.
