Men's Seniors v Shropshire & Herefordshire - Match Report
Warwickshire Seniors started our 2024 league campaign with an away match against Shropshire & Hereford at The Wrekin Golf Club.
The team selected to play for Warwickshire was:

The Wrekin Golf Club is situated in the Shropshire hills, with all the holes flowing up and down hills, along sideslopes or through valleys, with many greens cut into the slopes; local knowledge would prove to be a distinct advantage.
The course was in great condition with the greens in superb shape.
The morning foursomes got under way with a win for Warren & Shaun in the top match and Nev & Russ in game 5, we went into lunch 4-2 down.
With the forecast of heavy rain all afternoon, we pulled the start time for the afternoon games forward. We left the clubhouse just after 12 to tee off and the rain began to fall and didn't stop for the rest of the afternoon.
The top match was a close game with Warren & Shaun again coming out on top 2 up, unfortunately the other 5 matches all lost. The match result was a 14-4 loss.
I have never been happier to watch our opponents hole out for a birdie 2 at the 14th hole and win our game 5&4, we were well and truly beaten but the 14th was close to the clubhouse and a short walk back, allowing us to get the waterproofs off, dry out and have a beer!
