Pairings and match summary
The Captains on both sides were first out with Harry and Jacob being greeted with a birdie on the first by Worcestershire and remained 1 down through 4 holes! A win on hole 5 spurred the lads on, taking control of the game, dovetailing well, winning holes 8 and 9 to be 2up at the turn and securing a 4&3 win for Warwickshire!
Byron and Isaac found themselves facing a pairing on fire early on! At one point 3 down, they fought back to 1 down after 10 holes, but with giving shots on the next few holes they weren't able to peg Worcestershire back, eventually losing 3&2.
Sam and Hugo played in a very competitive match against the Worcestershire pairing! They kept their composure, focus and determination, eventually winning out by 1 hole. Well done lads!
Jimmy was making his debut for Warwickshire, paired alongside Seb in his second season for the County. The lads found themselves 3 down early on, but won hole 9 to turn at 2 down, got back to all square, before the Worcs boys played fantastically well through the last 3 holes winning by 2.
Theo and Bobby after being 5 up through 5 holes before lightning stopped play at the Wrekin found themselves in a tough match, battling hard, but the putts didn't want to drop, eventually losing 4&3.
Match was lost 3-2. All the boys should be proud of how they played. Great experience as the matches were tight, competitive, but played in the right spirit.
As always, thank you to the parents for their support, John Breslin and the Copsewood members who supported on the day and to Luke Perry and the Worcestershire lads for an enjoyable afternoon's golf.
That's all the U14 boys friendly fixtures for 2024. Next up 4 Counties U14 Championship on Monday 15th of July!
