Warwickshire Men's Bainbridge Shield Final 2023 - Final Report
Due to the wet weather that plagued golf courses throughout the latter end of 2023 and early 2024 the Bainbridge Shield final for 2023 was completed on 6th September 2024 at Ladbrook Park Golf Club.
The finalists were Moor Hall A (Dan and Rob Bardsley) and Coventry B (Rich Bush and John Hale).
Ladbrook was in immaculate condition and the weather, although autumnal in temperature, was dry and we were all set for a fantastic 36 hole finale to possibly the longest running knockout in Warwickshire history.
Moor Hall would make the first move, a par on the 2nd good enough to give them a lead. A lead they would extend to 2 holes by the turn. The back 9 saw many halved holes with the putts not dropping for the Coventry pairing and the Moor Hall team parring their way home. At halfway the lead would be 3 up to Moor Hall.
After some fantastic lunch the players returned for the closing 18 holes. Moor Hall started fast, a great birdie at 2nd and another on the 4th would see then extend the lead to 5. Coventry were doing all they could to stem the tide, but their birdie on the 8th was matched by Moor Hall and a strong push around the turn would see Rob and Dan win the match 7 & 6.
Congratulations to both teams on a well fought final, played in great spirits with some fine foursomes golf on display.
A huge Thank You to Ladbrook Park Golf Club for agreeing to host this final. The course was in fantastic condition and the food and welcome we got on the day was amazing.
