WLCGA Inter Club Pairs Competition at Coventry Hearsall on Monday 14th October 2024

The Inter Club Pairs Competition was held on Monday 14th October at Coventry Hearsall Golf Club. The format was an 18 hole Better Ball Stableford. The players are entered by the clubs affiliated to WLCGA. One player must be from the Silver Division (max HI 20.4) and the other player must be from the Bronze Division (HI 20.5-45.0). Clubs are requested to run a qualifying competition, which may be played in conjunction with a club competition, in order to select the pair. This year, 18 pairs entered.

The morning was rather grey with a fine drizzle as the ladies set off. As usual our Warwickshire ladies were undaunted and keen to get going. Considering the weather in the previous week, the ladies were pleased with the condition of the course and how it held up.

A huge thank you to Coventry Hearsall Golf Club for allowing us to run this competition and to Ian, the General Manager, for helping with the planning.  A big thank you to all the helpers on the day, in particular Lesley Duff and Chris Scott who raised £81 for the Junior Girls through the ball sweep and to Mark and Debbie Reynolds who were referees on the day. Mark also started the field.

Thank you to Mike in the Pro shop who sorted the WLCGA banners and flag to set the scene.

Many congratulations to Hannah Nicholls and Susan Blackledge from Harborne who were runners up with 40 points. Here they are pictured with Deb Reynolds, Referee and WLCGA Chair of Competitions Committee.

And the winners, with an amazing 43 points, were Alicia Iles and Jayne Hales from Oakridge Golf Club.
